Paper Description
This course is designed to continue the development of communication emphasizing the four language skills writing, speaking, listening, and reading. Students will be able to communicate in Spanish converse with others, express their own ideas in writing, and read and understand what others have written. Also SPNSH132 offers the students the opportunity to learn throughout the text book and cultural readings about the influence of indigenous loan words on both vocabulary and the pronunciation of colonial Spanish. Students also improve their thinking skills by comparing the words and cultural contexts which they are learning, with those of their first language.
Learning outcomes:By the end of this course it is expected that students will be capable of understanding daily phrases and expressions frequently used related to areas of experience which are particularly relevant to them (basic information about themselves and their family, shopping, places of interest, occupations, etc.)This course targets the approximately equivalent to international standard with reference to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages of –A2
Paper Structure
This paper will be taught in one stream. Students will attend two workshops, one of two hours, and the second one of an hour.
LearnSmart should be done before doing the workshop as a pre-lesson.
All the workshop materials are online via the Connect program from Tu Mundo ebook.
Also, there is a one hour language tutorial per week.
Students who cannot physically attend face to face tutorial can join via Zoom during the tutorial session in class.
Workshop and tutorial attendance is essential to make good progress in the language.
Note: Workshop and tutorials will be altered to be delivered online if Alert Levels rise again.

The expected workload in terms of points bear a direct relationship to workload; one point equates to approximately 10 hours’ total work; so a student might expect to spend about 150 hours in total during a semester on a 15-point paper.
Remember that a language require lots of practices, the more you do the better you get and the more rewarding and enjoyable!
